History, innovation and creativity

 

KOPELCO was born in the 1950s, founded by Felipe Kopelowicz, a Belarusian immigrant who arrived in Argentina full of ideas that led him to develop and patent a machine for cutting rubber sheets. As the years went by, that machine would mark the origin of this family business that today has more than 60 years of experience.

 

 

Latex yarn

 

On the path of growth and continuous improvement, it was Alberto Kopelowicz, Felipe's son, who invested all of his savings in traveling to Brazil to perfect himself in the technology of manufacturing latex yarn. Upon returning to Argentina, he designed the country's first and only machine to manufacture the product locally, introducing the company to the textile industry, particularly for elastics and stockings.

 

 

Condoms

 

In 1986, the knowledge acquired from the manufacture of latex yarn and the eagerness to develop new businesses led Alberto to venture into the world of condoms.

 

True to his entrepreneurial style, he assembled a team of chemists to develop the formula, while he set up his own machine to manufacture them, coordinating a workshop with millers, welders, electricians, blacksmiths and turners. In 1989 the Tulipán and Gentleman brands were born.

Tulipán was gaining renown by establishing itself in the market as a young and innovative brand, which combines safety with pleasure and fun.

Although in the beginning a single condom model was produced, Tulipán currently incorporates the best products in the world, importing from Japan, Germany and the United States.

 

It has a market share of 40% of the national market, in addition to exporting to Latin American countries and being one of the most important suppliers to the national government in prevention campaigns against STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases).

 

It has its own cosmetic laboratories and a laboratory approved by the Ministry of Health for the physical, chemical and microbiological analysis of condoms which, in turn, carries out product quality work for other companies.

 

 

Lace, elastic and rigid bands

Always betting on the growth of KOPELCO, Alberto began to think about the manufacture of new products that had greater added value than latex yarn. Thus, in 1993, he ventured into the manufacture of elastic ribbons and lace for fine corsetry.

 

Alberto started with only 4 textile machines and currently there are more than 170 and a large dry cleaner, which makes it the most important factory in Argentina.

 

 

New businesses

 

With the experience acquired, the production and innovation capacity and the contact with all marketing channels, KOPELCO is continually developing new products and expanding its businesses and markets.

 

It manufactures, imports, exports, markets and distributes a wide variety of products ranging from health care and first aid, to the textile industry and entertainment. It has its own brands and the representation of various first-class national and international brands, offering the market quality products for all types of consumption.

 

 

 

 

DISTRIBUTION

 

 

With more than 70 years of experience, KOPELCO manufactures, imports, exports, markets and distributes a wide variety of products ranging from health care and first aid, to the textile industry and entertainment. It has its own brands and the representation of various first-class national and international brands, offering the market quality products for all types of consumption.

 

 

It develops its commercial activity throughout Argentina and exports to several Latin American countries. It has a team of its own salespeople and through various distribution channels, it is present in the main candy wholesalers, pharmacies, drugstores, supermarkets, service stations, restaurants and bars.

 

 

For this reason, it continually incorporates new brands and quality products to strengthen and diversify its commercial portfolio.

 

 

 

STRUCTURE

 

160 employees make up an excellent multidisciplinary team of professionals for research, development and production.

 

The main plant is located in San Martin, Province of Buenos Aires and in the San Luis industrial park a second plant is dedicated exclusively to the textile area.

 

 

 

REGULATORY ISSUES

 

KOPELCO is a company regulated by the ANMAT Health Authority, it complies with regulations as a manufacturer and importer of medical products (Medical Technology) and cosmetics (INAME). In production processes, good manufacturing practices are applied for all health-monitored products.

 

In addition, it has a quality management system by applying ISO 9001/2008 certification in all its processes to guarantee continuous improvement in the quality of its products.
